When choosing a photographer to photograph your wedding, it's really important you book a professional wedding photographer. They will have all the technical knowledge and be able to work confidently to photograph your wedding in all situations, to be able to take the photographs without being intrusive making the both of you and your guests feel comfortable having their photograph taken. They will most likely have experience photographing at your venue if not they will research the venue prior to your wedding, they will also have insurance and back up equipment on the day. There are lots of amateur so called 'photographers' out there, that have probably never or haven't photographed many weddings, would you really trust and feel confident that they will be able to capture the whole of your wedding day? You wouldn't let someone service your car, repair your central heating etc if they had another job and had no experience? They probably won't have insurance or back up equipment with them and if the company they work for need them to work on the day of your wedding are they going to risk loosing their job by choosing to attempt to photograph your wedding instead and what happens if they are ill on the day of your wedding? Can they work in extreme weather conditions, poor lighting and when time is short all these are extremely important factors. It's not just about taking photographs, it is giving you something much more valuable, experience, expertise, composing those memorable and taking those natural as things happen photographs on one of the most important days of your life. Professional photographs of precious moments are worth a great deal more than the paper they're printed on. Finally remember this is not a rehearsal therefore make the right decision and not to cut corners and go for a cheap or free option.
